The writing is on the wall and now people who have been briefed on Google’s cellphone project have revealed that Google has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into it. And yes, it has developed prototype handsets, is currently in talks with operators such as T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, and has talked through technical specifications with phone manufacturers. Consumers can expect a variety of Google phones from multiple manufacturers based on its specs and better yet you may not even have to change carriers because it’s more than likely multiple operators will offer them.

Don’t dump that new iPhone or old clamshell phone just yet because the Google Phone wouldn’t be available until next year at the earliest, say people familiar with the project.
The Mountain View, Calif., company has made clear it is serious about developing advanced software and services for cellphones. “What’s interesting about the ads in the mobile phone is that they are twice as profitable or more than the nonmobile phone ads because they’re more personal,” said Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt at the D: All Things Digital conference in May.
A Google spokesman yesterday declined to comment on a Google phone project, but noted: “We are partnering with almost all of the carriers and manufacturers to get Google search and other Google applications onto their devices and networks.”
Once again, people familiar with the matter stated that “the Google phone project goes far beyond Google’s existing deals to include its search engine or applications such as Maps on select handsets.”
As if that’s not enough info, the source continue to share that “now [Google] is drafting specifications for phones that can display all of Google’s mobile applications at their best, and it is developing new software to run on them. The company is conducting much of the development work at a facility in Boston, and is working on a sophisticated new web browser for cellphones, people familiar with the plans say.”
Taking a different route than Apple, Google is willing to let manufacturers create devices on a common set of specifications and hope that multiple operators will offer its phone.
Google has approached several wireless operators in the U.S. and Europe in recent months, including AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC, people familiar with the situation say. T-Mobile USA, a unit of Deutsche Telekom AG, appears to be the furthest along in considering it, these people say. Andy Rubin, who helped design T-Mobile’s popular Sidekick phone, now works at Google and is involved in its handset project.
The specifications Google has laid out for devices suggest that manufacturers include cameras for photo and video, and built-in Wi-Fi technology to access the Web at hot spots such as airports, coffee shops and hotels. It also is recommending that the phones be designed to work on carriers’ fastest networks, known as 3G, to ensure that Web pages can be downloaded quickly. Google suggests the phones could include Global Positioning System technology that identifies where people are.
People who have seen Google’s prototype devices say they aren’t as revolutionary as the iPhone. One was likened to a slim Nokia Corp. phone with a keyboard that slides out. Another phone format presented by Google looked more like a Treo or a BlackBerry. It’s not clear which manufacturers might build Google wireless devices, though people familiar with the project say LG Electronics Co. of South Korea is one company that has held talks with Google. Google has already lined up a series of hardware component and software partners and signaled to carriers that it’s open to various degrees of cooperation on their part, the people say.
Phone manufacturers and operators will not be charged a licensing fee but Google has suggested the phones could carry the Google brand alongside the brand of the operator or, alternatively, leave it out completely.
Any time a new player enters a market, especially when it comes to Google, it’s extremely exciting because consumers will soon have more options to choose from. Their flexible approach towards branding is also interesti

Let me tell you about some of the hottest new technology gadgets out there right now. First which seems promising is the Automatic Make up camera by Casio, the Smart Pen, and Computer Cool School by Fisher Price, The Swanky Theater, and the Glowing Gloves. I will tell you about the product, the great features, and if available when it comes out and how much.
So first we have the automatic Make up Camera, the Exilim Zoom Z300, which is 10.1 Megapixels and the Z250 which is 9.1 megapixels made by Casio. It has a built in Photoshop, for the makeup savvy women. The makeup setting goes from 0 through 12, and you can add as little or as much make up as you need. You will be able to cover wrinkles, frown lines, even out your skin tone. It was released, Aug 29 at a price of $249.84.
Next we have, the Smart Pen. If you are like me and you write a lot and then forget what you wrote down and cannot find the paper, this is the pen for you! It writes with ink, and just like a regular pen. It records audio and links it to what your writing, and plays audio back when tapped on paper. You can also put the notes onto your laptop or desktop computer, you can even leave your laptop at home and if you have the special dot paper (about $5 for a whole notebook) you can easily transfer all your notes onto the paper from your pen. The pen costs $149 for 1GB and $199 for 2GB.
One of the neatest hot new technology gadget, is the Computer Cool School, by fisher price. It’s a keyboard that you hook up to your own computer and it teaches reading, writing, science, art and music. It is password protected so your little one doesn’t print 500 copies of anything. It always keeps them from getting to the main hard drive on the computer as well as the internet. It came out in July and it costs $59.99.
Another hot new technology gadget is, The Swanky Theater. It’s like a drive in wherever you place it. You can get a nine, ten or twelve foot inflatable screen, and it’s so compact it folds down to duffel bag size! It is great for party throwers who want to be the talk of the town. At $ 1,499 it comes with the screen, projector, DVD player, sound mixer, and more. If you want just the screen its $399. But by far worth the price!
The last of the hot new technology gadgets is, The glowing glove. Innovative technology has led to having a flashlight at your fingertip, literally. It’s a fiber optic glove made by Tilen Sepic of Slovenia. It can produce diffused and spot lighting. And if the power goes out it will most defiantly come in handy! Doesn’t state how much or when it will be out.

Introduction
Nokia has gone a step ahead with its latest model N96. A part of the N series, the model comes as a successor to N95. It has surpassed all the phones in the mobile arena with a capacity of 16 GB onboard phone memory and an option to expand it further, via a microSDHC slot, a capacity which no mobiles flaunt about right now. The cell phone has dimensions of 103 X 55 X 18mm and weighs 125 g. The only hitch in the phone is that its battery back up is not something exceptional.
Design/Looks
The all new, two-side slide phone, N96 is similar to N95 in its looks. The only difference between the two is that the former is an improved version. The large colored screen which occupies most of the front face of the cell phone is a delight to look at. A very thoughtful designing is shift of the 3.5 mm jack, which is placed at the side instead of the top and makes the phone easier to carry. The keys of N96 are quite simple and user friendly.
Features
While most of the features of N96 are the same as the other Nokia phones in the N-series, something that stands out is its high in-built memory capacity. The camera has a display type of TFT, 16M colors and a 5MP camera, with auto focus, flash and video recording. A modest feature is the kick stand on the back of the handset that allows you to rest your phone upright on a table - useful if you’re trying to watch a full-length film and don’t fancy holding it for an hour. All the connectivity options that were there in Nokia N95 are also available in N 96, including GPS, HSDPA (3.5G) and Wi-Fi.

You know the law. It prohibits you from using your mobile phone when driving. While this law is primarily created to protect your interest as a driver, sometimes it can be such an inconvenience - especially if you’re a very busy person with too many businesses concerns to handle. It is a good thing that you now have options when it comes to driving a car and talking on the phone. Nowadays, you can do these two things at the same time without breaking some rules.
It is very dangerous to drive a vehicle with a phone cradled in your ear. It is important to keep both of your hands on the wheel. So if you are able to do just that and still talk on the phone, you should be fine. There are a lot of Bluetooth headsets that you can use along with your mobile phone. Most of these accessories won’t cost you anything more than $50. You shouldn’t scrimp on these phone necessities if you really want to use your phone, drive a car, and stay well within the boundaries of the law.
However, it is quite alarming to note that those people who are driving expensive cars are the ones who can’t seem to understand that they can’t use their phone while on the road. They might think that they’re above the law or something just because they’re rich. However, a simple earpiece with a wire just costs $10 each. Surely, they’re not that cheap not to get these phone appendages if they can’t buy a Bluetooth earpiece, right? However, there may be laws against wired earpieces in some areas. Better find out if this option is acceptable from where you live.
There are also car kits that you can use in lieu of the wired earpieces and Bluetooth headsets. These hands-free phone car kits are meant to be installed on the car’s ventilators or dashboards so you can take your calls even if you’re on the move. This is the safest way to go if you intend to use your mobile phone on the car.
If you don’t have any of these mobile phone car accessories, then it is best that you simply turn off your phone the moment you take the driver’s seat. Turn it on only after you have parked your car properly. And if you do intend to use the phone while driving, be sure to inform the person on the other line. Do that to let him or her know that you can’t stay too long on the phone. Always keep your conversations short. And never start an argument on the phone if you’re driving.
Today’s technology allows us to do almost anything. But we shouldn’t abuse what we’re currently enjoying. Follow traffic rules all the time. You are going to need them to safeguard your own interests on the road. And more importantly, these same laws would definitely keep you from accidents and other unfortunate instances while on the road.

Apple Inc has issued a software update for the latest iPhone to help fix connection problems that led to a flurry of online complaints from customers, a European mobile service provider said on Tuesday as Credit Suisse reported strong U.S. sales of the device. One of the key attractions of the latest iPhone is its faster, third-generation (3G) Web connections when compared with the first iPhone that was launched in mid-2007.

Taiwan based manufacturer of Microsoft Windows CE for handheld devices, HTC (High Tech Computer Corporation) has created quite a stir in the world of mobile phones with some of the most advanced smartphones and PDA phones. Moving ahead from doing the honours for Microsoft, HTC has now made its name as a creator of its own products, even carving a notch as the owner of its subsidiary Dopod, which creates Windows based smartphones. Founded in the year 1997, the steadily growing manufacturer has implemented its technologically rich mobile intelligence to introduce its line of cutting edge PDA phones and smartphones for network operators and distributors in the US, Europe and even Asia. Solely served as HTC phones across these regions, the manufacturer has already gone ahead and impressed thousands of tech savvy users.
In the wake of an apparently huge proliferation of mobile phones with the power to showcase the most amazing abilities, HTC has groomed itself with its technology to play as a strong contender in the competitive ballgame. Some of the latest HTC mobile phones like HTC MTeoR, HTC S710, HTC P4350, HTC Advantage X7501 and HTC TyTN give their users a teaser of the immense potential that the manufacturer wields.
Packaged with revolutionary attributes like Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems for smartphones and Pocket PC phones, these amazingly suave devices hold smooth purring processors, quick access to emails and contacts, seamless Internet browsers and improvised connectivity routes. Almost all the needs of a typical user have been taken care of by the HTC mobile phones. The busy bee professionals get their due through evolved office applications like document viewers and instant access to emails and calendars, while the trendy users get their fill of entertainment Windows Media players and Internet browsers. You name it, you have it.
HTC has really come of age and with its complete package of sophistication and functionality in the latest mobile phones for all to behold and harness.
Sometimes, the things and gadgets that you think are the least useful will prove you wrong in the end. And in a potentially dangerous sport like hunting, having all the right hunting gadgets that technology brings you can be a matter of life and death. Let’s take a solar powered torchlight as an example. Don’t think it’d be of any use to you? Well, imagine the kind of convenience and security measure it would provide you if you had it and you run out of battery supplies. Furthermore, the solar powered torchlight doesn’t need batteries and they can operate for over long periods at night even when there’s no sunlight because they have the capability of storing energy in their internal batteries.
And yes, of course, hunting is a skill-game. The only way to get really good at hunting is not by way of having as many hunting gadgets in your backpack as possible. The only way to get good at hunting is by practicing, practicing and practicing. You can have a 500-yard hunting rifle, laser rangefinders and whatever-else-you-can-find-on-and-off-the-internet and yet, without the right skills, you will do not much better than without the hunting gadgets.
But imagine, if you’re OK in the hunting game and you have some cool and funky hunting gadgets with you, it WILL make a difference. With some skill, hunting gadgets like the precision hunting rifle and motion detectors will come in really handy!
One of the most amazing hunting gadgets to have handy is the Rangefinders (I personally love the Simmons Rangefinder) which gives you the confidence of shooting with unparalleled accuracy. Because with each shot, the Rangefinder will recalibrate, you get more and more accurate with each shot. Therefore, even an amateur hunting enthusiast can be quite successful during the hunting trips. The right Rangefinder should be resistant to weather elements like rain and extreme heat. And the Rangefinder’s performance should not be affected AT ALL with rain and close-by objects like leaves, branches and leaves.
The best Rangefinders in the market should be as silent as your footsteps whenever you’re hunting. Other factors you should check out before you buy a new Rangefinder is the weight of the hunting gadget, the complexity of setup, ease of use, size of the hunting gadget and how fast does the battery run out. If the Rangefinder has a speed gun function…all the better but an expert in hunting can probably live without it. The hunting gadget should be accurate to within a foot off the target. Anything less than that, forget it.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Inc’s latest iPhone will be more profitable than any other product in its popular iPod line of music players, despite a price tag that is half of the previous iPhone, according to a study.
Helped by lower component costs, margins for the new iPhone are expected to exceed the 50 percent level achieved by Apple’s most popular media players, according to a preliminary study by research firm iSuppli Corp, released late on Tuesday.
“Apple’s iPod and iPhone products typically are priced about 50 percent more than their (materials and manufacturing) costs,” iSuppli said. “With the new iPhone sold at a price of $199 and the estimated subsidy of $300, Apple will achieve an even higher … margin.
Wireless phone carriers are expected pay a subsidy of about $300 to Apple for each of the new iPhones, iSupply said.
ISupply estimates manufacturing costs for Apple’s new high-speed iPhone totaled $173, compared with $265 for the original iPhone, released one year ago for about $500 with no subsidy. After what it called “component price reductions,” the initial iPhone carried a cost of $226.
“At … $173, the new iPhone is significantly less expensive to produce than the first-generation product, despite major improvements in the product’s functionality and unique usability, due to the addition of 3G communications,” said Dr. Jagdish Rebello, principal analyst for iSuppli.
The figures don’t include other costs, including software development, shipping and distribution, and packaging, iSuppli said.
ISuppli performed what it called a “virtual teardown,” using insights from its staff to develop estimates of iPhone content, suppliers and costs.
Once the 3G iPhone becomes available, iSuppli plans to perform an actual, detailed teardown of the new iPhone’s components and cost structure.
